The Akashic Tarot: The Light Of The World (Number 10)

In this blog post we will discuss The Light Of The World, which is the tenth card of the Major Arcana.

The Light Of The World card is the tenth card in the Major Arcana of the Akashic Tarot. When this card comes up, I always see it as powerful advice in regards to your intuition and connection to it. The intuitive meaning of the card is as follows:

Upright Meaning:

When the Light Of The World card comes out upright, this is a reminder of your connection to spirit and the spirit world. This card symbolizes paying attention to the nagging feeling, the inner knowing, your intuition and the wealth of information you carry inside of you.

The card depicts a sage knocking on the door of a home. The sage, who looks like an older man with white hair, may carry wisdom already due to his life and experiences lived. He also has a halo around him, implying this may be a holy figure or someone who has wholesome advice (see my blog post "What does it mean to be holy?" here.). His gown is golden and he wears a red coat, which were the royal colors a few hundred and thousand years ago. He also carries a lamp with a light in it, implying he carries the light in the dark, the light of the world or overall illumination. This sage is about to knock or he is already knocking on the door of a house. Inside this home, a younger man is tending to some house chores and surrounded by his pet cat. Inside a fire is burning, making the atmosphere even homelier (and implying it may be during the colder or chillier times of fall, winter and spring). The young man might be oblivious to the sage standing outside his door or he is too busy to hear the knock and answer the call.

The meaning of this scene is figuratively and implies that the young man has perhaps lost touch or overview of his connection to spirit. This can be connection to his own intuition, the spiritual world, the unseen realm, things that cannot be explained by the rationale mind or overall just a higher sense of belonging and spirituality. When this card comes out it is a good reminder to tune into your own senses again and connect with your inner self. That power, which lies within you and to which you can connect through your heart space and intuitive gut area. Your own divine being is knocking on your door and trying to get your attention. Perhaps you are too busy to answer the knock, as you get lost in everyday chores, work life, career opportunities, a relationship that isn't working or overall drama in your life. It is up to you to answer the knock / call and open the door to your own divinity and power within again. To regain focus on the lost connection, which we perhaps had a while ago or as children.

Overall, this card depicts your divine being and the power you carry within. And it reminds you to use it when you feel you've lost touch to it.

Love:

Perhaps the person you are wondering about has lost touch with their own divinity and empowered self. They are too busy with chores or worldly matters to take a moment to sit down, reflect on the life they are living and see how they can connect with their own inner selves again. This person is in need of some spirituality but instead they have chosen a different path for now. Try to find acceptance and compassion if you are unable to change anything about these circumstances.

Overall meaning:

Your divinity is always accessible to you. Don't be decimated by worldly terms, drawers society wants to fit you in or drama created in your life. You have the power to access your divine spark whenever you want.

Reverse Meaning:

When the Light Of The World card comes out in reverse, this may be a sign that your world is in turmoil or you have lost touch with your own divinity through other circumstances. Perhaps you've gotten lost in the daily rut of life, chores, work - you name it. Or something happened, which really rocked your world. Maybe you are also ignoring your own power and connection to the spirit realm or your own spirituality.

Realize that as long as you are ignoring this aspect of you, you will never feel whole and complete and you are denying yourself the gift of your own divine being. Denying yourself access to this crucial part of yourself will instead make you feel more incomplete.
