The Akashic Tarot: The Ark Of The Covenant (Number 11)

In this blog post we will discuss The Ark of the Covenant, which is the eleventh card of the Major Arcana.

The Ark of the Covenant card is the eleventh card in the Major Arcana of the Akashic Tarot. When this card comes up, I always see it as powerful advice in regards to your intuition and connection to it. The intuitive meaning of the card is as follows:

Upright Meaning:

When the Ark of the Covenant card comes out upright, it is a reminder of taking things slow and with deliberation. I equate this card to the "Hermit" card of the traditional tarot. Although the numerology is different (11 versus 19), I see this particular card as very similar in meaning.

The card depicts two men or Bedouins sitting in front of a tent in a desert landscape. Inside the tent you can see a golden treasure box. This treasure box symbolizes the Ark of the Covenant. What is the Ark of the Covenant? In short it is a gold-plated wooden chest that, in Jewish and Christian tradition, houses the two tablets bearing the Ten Commandments that were given to Moses by God. It also contains Aaron's rod and a pot of manna. It is a legendary artifact believed to be the most sacred relic of the Israelites.

With this in mind, the card will make more sense, too. The two men depicted are of different ages: One appears to be younger whereas the other one has a gray beard and appears to be older and perhaps wiser. Nonetheless, these two men look like friends or people with the same purpose, sharing sacred space and time together. They are sitting in front of a bonfire while chatting or communicating.

The meaning of this scene is figuratively and implies that now might be a good time to go within and do some proper reflecting. Perhaps you are even planning a camping trip (this card came out for me once before I went on such a trip) - away from people and civilization and with a small group of friends or family. This card can also imply that you carry your most precious treasure within you and that you now have an opportunity to connect to that aspect. Or it is a reminder that you are a powerful being with a true life purpose.

In addition, it may imply working with contracts, lawyers or the legal system, such as when signing for a new house, new jobs etc. And that these opportunities are going to present themselves very soon.

Love:

Due to the nature of men in this photo, this card may imply that the man or Divine Masculine energy you are connecting to is pulled back in silence. He may even be consulting with a wiser and older friend in regards to making life decisions. Perhaps he is in his man cave or on a trip with other male friends. I see this card similar to the hermit card of the traditional tarot. Meaning this card symbolizes more inward reflection than actual action.

Overall meaning:

This card depicts your highest power, your divine purpose in life and a way to communicate this to others.

Reverse Meaning:

When the Ark of the Covenant card comes out in reverse, this may be a sign that legal contracts or matters may fall through or get cancelled. There could be several reasons for this and they might not be related to an actual person but more-so the right timing. Additionally, perhaps life has kept you busy and you've been unable to connect with your power within. Try to find some quiet time or meditate to come back to yourself and be in touch with your higher purpose.
