Spirit Animal: A Spirit or Power animal refers to a spirit which helps guide or protect a person on a journey and whose characteristics that person shares or embodies.
A spirit animal is there to guide you through a certain phase of your life, in which case it is mostly called a power animal. Sometimes, a spirit animal is for life. Other times, you have various different animal spirits enter you life at different stages and it is up to you to interpret their meaning and significance. Spirit animals can communicate to us via our dreams. Or they draw our attention by simply being in our life, such as when a butterfly lands on you.
When Shamanic Journeying, a spirit animal is there to guide you through the part of your soul evolution, that you are currently undergoing. When doing the Shamanic Journey a few days ago, my spirit animal was the Ibis. I didn't even know what it was until I looked it up online after. The spirit told me that I was now free to fly. To spread my wings and finally turn into a beautiful being, instead of hiding myself and dimming my light. It gifted me a crown, which I was to wear during this important part of my soul transformation and the months to come. Then it lovingly said good-bye.
