Happy new year! According to the old Julian calendar, March 25th marks the official legal new year. Our calendars world wide were switched over to the Gregorian system a few hundred years ago. The former new year (today's date) also seems to always be much closer to Easter than other new year dates.
A lot of people feel the actual new year does not start until much later than January 1. Some say it starts with the Chinese new year, which is typically in February. Others say for them they feel the new year has entered with the spring equinox. March 25th might be why some people carry over that memory that their year never used to start until now. For me personally, this date resonates with me much better than any of the aforementioned dates.
When does the new year start for you?
